On the first of August of 2012, during a conference at Guijo de Santa Bárbara, the representatives of the land owners and the district councils of the terrains at stake, being Tornavacas, Guijo de Santa Bárbara, Jarandilla de la Vera, Losar de la Vera y Viandar de la Vera, all integral parts of the Hunting reserve “La Sierra” in Extremadura, established an association for the protection of the constitutional law 1/2002, from the 22 of March, with the name ASOCIACIÓN DE LA RESERVA DE CAZA " LA SIERRA" DE GREDOS DE EXTREMADURA.
The villages that integrate the Reserve expect many tourist attractions. The closeness to the monastery of Yuste where Carlos V has spent his last months is especially outstanding.
Tornavacas
Situated at the head of the Valle del Jerte, this villiage has plenty of cherry trees that show real beauty when blosson. On that occasion, the flowering of the trees is celebrated, declared to be of regional touristic interest. The venue changes every year between the different villages of the valley. Furthermore, the area of Tornavacas that integrates the Reserve forms a part of the Natural Reserve “Garganta de los Infiernos”. The Interpretation Centre of High Mountains and Transhumance is in Tornavacas.

Guijo de Santa Bárbara
This village, the only one situated within the Reserve, is surrounded by a landscape of great beauty. On the plaza “La Fuente” there is the Interpretation Centre of the Regional Hunting Reserve “La Sierra”. The village is known for its licors and craft jams.

Jarandilla de la Vera
Among its monuments, there are the Castillo de los Condes de Oropesa (Parador Nacional de Carlos V) and the Church “Fortaleza Templaria de Santa María de la Torre”. Among its celebrations, Los Escobazos clearly stands out, it has been declared to be of Regional touristic interest.

Losar de la Vera
Very close to this village leys the Garganta de Cuartos with a lovely romantic bridge and bathing areas. Especially interesting are the Carnival parties during which "El Entierro de Manolo" is celebrated.

Viandar de la Vera
A small village with plenty of olive groves and oak woods, only a few kilometers away there are the villages Valverde de La Vera and Villanueva de La Vera, of which both are declared historical-artistic complexes.
